Using Codectionary

Codectionary is an independently operated UK learning service offering developer documentation, a browser playground, quizzes, flashcards, an AI assistant and curated videos. These terms apply when you use the service. If you do not agree, please stop using it.

Some features require an account. The service is evolving, and supported languages, execution capabilities and features may change. A language being documented does not mean its code can run in the browser playground.

Accounts and Google sign-in

You can register using an email address and password or sign in with Google. Provide accurate information and keep your account and sign-in methods secure. Do not impersonate others or use an account without permission. Contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

Google sign-in uses Google’s authentication service. Codectionary does not receive your Google password, and signing in does not grant access to your Gmail or Google Drive. Google’s own terms also apply when you use its services.

Your code and learning activity

You keep ownership of code and other material you submit. You allow us and the providers needed to operate the requested feature to process it to deliver that feature. Only submit material you have permission to use.

Keep copies of work you want to retain. The playground is a learning environment, not guaranteed permanent storage or a production hosting service. Do not put passwords, API keys, confidential information or other people’s personal data into examples or AI prompts.

Documentation, AI and translation

Educational material, AI answers and automated translations can contain mistakes or be incomplete. Review explanations and test code before relying on it. We do not promise qualifications, employment outcomes, uninterrupted availability or error-free results.

AI answers are generated through a third-party service. Your question and relevant reference context are sent for processing when you request an answer. Translations are automated and may change the meaning of the original text; contact us if an important passage is unclear.

Videos and third-party services

The Watch section embeds videos provided by YouTube and links to independent creators. The videos remain the property of their respective owners. Codectionary does not claim ownership, endorsement or a subscription relationship with those creators.

Using an embedded YouTube player is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. Videos may include advertising, age or regional restrictions, or become unavailable. External services have their own terms and privacy practices.

Acceptable use and intellectual property

Do not distribute malware, attack the service, bypass authentication or rate limits, access other people’s information, harass others, infringe rights or manipulate learning scores. Security testing requires prior permission. Ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages is allowed.

Codectionary branding and original editorial content belong to their respective rights holders. Documentation code examples may be used under the MIT licence unless a specific example states otherwise; preserve any applicable attribution and licence notices. Third-party code and videos retain their own licences.

Deleting an account and ending access

You can request account deletion in Settings by selecting Delete account and typing DELETE to confirm. Deletion removes access to that Codectionary account and its associated learning profile. Save anything you need first. If you cannot sign in or the request fails, email codectionary@outlook.com.

Deleting a Codectionary account does not delete your Google account, YouTube history or information held independently by other services. Browser preferences may remain until you clear site data. See the Privacy Policy for retention limitations and your data rights.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security risks or legal obligations. Where practical, we will explain the reason and allow you to contact us. You may stop using the service at any time.

Responsibility and your legal rights

Use the service with reasonable care and review code before running it. To the extent allowed by law, we do not accept responsibility for losses caused by reliance on inaccurate educational content, interruptions or third-party services.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence, or removes mandatory consumer rights. Applicable law determines your rights and any dispute; these terms do not require you to give up protections available where you live.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the service or legal requirements. The revision date appears at the top of this page. Material changes will be brought to users’ attention where appropriate.
