Getting started
Yes. The documentation and learning tools are free to use. Quizzes, flashcards and the AI assistant require a free account.
You can read the docs, use the Playground and browse Watch without signing in. You’ll need a free account for quizzes, flashcards, the AI assistant or submitting a tutorial.
Sign in or create an accountThe documentation covers HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, C#, Ruby, C++, PHP, Lua and Luau. Each language in the homepage index shows its actual number of documentation topics. Being in the docs doesn’t mean a language can run in the Playground.
Browse documentationIf you want to build a web page, start with the HTML documentation. Open an example with “Edit in Playground” and change a heading or add a link. Try CSS when you want to change how the page looks.
Start with HTMLYes. You can read the docs and use quizzes and flashcards on your phone. A larger screen and keyboard make it easier to work with several files in the Playground.
Playground
A new project starts with index.html, style.css and script.js. Select a file in Explorer to edit it. The preview updates while Live preview is enabled; you can also press Run. JavaScript logs and errors appear in the Console.
Open the PlaygroundNot yet. Copy each file’s code to your device before leaving the Playground or refreshing the page. Project files aren’t saved to your account, and there isn’t a ZIP download option. The browser remembers your editor settings and panel layout.
HTML and CSS render in the browser preview; JavaScript and TypeScript run there too. Java and C++ use a separate execution service when it is available. Python files can be edited, but their Run control is temporarily paused while the runner is isolated. C#, Ruby, PHP, Lua and Luau are editing-only. Run Roblox examples in Roblox Studio.
Check language support in the PlaygroundJavaScript logs and runtime errors appear in the Console at the bottom of the Playground. Expand the panel if it is collapsed. If you have switched off Live preview, press Run after editing to see the latest output.
The Playground adds your CSS files to the preview automatically. Check that your selector matches the HTML and that your rule has its closing brace. If you turned Live preview off in editor settings, press Run to apply your changes.

Your score is the percentage of questions you answer correctly. A completed quiz awards 20 XP per correct answer. Finishing faster or getting several answers right in a row doesn’t add bonus XP.
Sign in, choose a language and difficulty, then set how many questions you want to answer. You can practise without a timer or set a time limit per question. Check each answer to see whether it was correct and read the explanation.
Open quizzesChoose a language or a mixed deck, filter by difficulty, and select how many cards to study. Each card has a question on the front and an answer on the back. Bookmarked and mastered cards only last for the current visit to Flashcards.
Open flashcardsCompleted quizzes update your account’s XP, level, quiz count and average score. You can see those figures in Settings. Reading a documentation page doesn’t mark it as completed, and Playground files aren’t part of your saved progress.
View account settingsWatch
Watch links to tutorials on YouTube and Vimeo. Codectionary Picks are selected for the library; Community Tutorials are suggestions reviewed before publication. Videos open on the original platform. You can suggest a link using “Submit a tutorial”.
Browse WatchNo. Bookmarks stay in the browser where you saved them. Guests can save tutorials too, and the guest list is separate from your signed-in list. Clearing browser storage removes those bookmarks.
Yes. Sign in and choose “Submit a tutorial” in Watch. Add a YouTube or Vimeo link, the creator’s name, language, difficulty, topics and a short explanation of why it is useful. Submissions go to review before appearing publicly; raw video uploads aren’t supported.
Go to WatchThe site owner checks the video link, its details and whether it is useful for learners before approving or rejecting it. Approved tutorials appear in Community Tutorials with a selection note. You can check your submission’s status and any review note in Watch.
AI assistant
The assistant is available with a free account. Requests have usage limits, so you may need to wait before sending another question if you reach one.
Sign inIt can suggest code and explain errors in the chat, but it doesn’t edit your Playground files. Share a small example or an error message, then test any suggestion in your own code.
You can ask about a coding concept, share an error message or request a short example. Include the relevant code and explain what you expected to happen. The assistant replies in chat; it doesn’t automatically read your Playground project.
Open the AI assistantNo. An answer can sound convincing and still contain a mistake. Check unfamiliar syntax against the documentation, and try the suggested code with an input where you already know the expected result.
